Uplifting Young Mothers in Mukuru Slum
This initiative focuses on empowering young mothers living in the Mukuru informal settlement in Nairobi, Kenya — one of the city’s largest slum communities where poverty, limited opportunities, and early motherhood often go hand-in-hand. The project aims to support these young women through a combination of education, life skills training, mentorship, and economic empowerment. It will offer access to counselling, health information, and peer support, while also helping mothers explore pathways back into schooling or vocational training. By building confidence, providing practical support and opening doors to income-generating opportunities, the program seeks to transform early motherhood from a barrier into a stepping stone toward long-term stability and self-reliance.
